The Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA) is Singapore’s primary legislative framework for controlling hazardous substances. The act includes specific “SG-RoHS” regulations that restrict toxic materials in household electronics such as mobile phones, laptops, and major appliances. Products cannot exceed maximum concentration values for six primary hazardous substances: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs). The framework introduces strict prohibitions on the manufacture and import of products containing Medium-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (MCCPs) and Long-Chain Perfluorocarboxylic Acids (LC-PFCAs), effective December 16, 2026.
