CONAMA Resolution No. 516/2026 was enacted by the Brazilian National Environment Council (CONAMA) on July 10, 2026. This resolution establishes a regulatory framework restricting 10 hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) placed on the Brazilian market, with concentration limits identical to the EU RoHS regulation. The restrictions are being introduced through a staggered implementation schedule: PBB and PBDE limits apply immediately; mercury after 180 days; cadmium, lead, and hexavalent chromium after three years; and four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP) after four years. Consequently, the restrictions on all 10 hazardous substances will be fully implemented by July 10, 2030.
