NOM-161-SEMARNAT-2011 – Mexican Official Standard NOM-161-SEMARNAT-2011 establishes the criteria to classify between waste and recycling and determine which are subject to a waste management plan. The legislation also includes the elements and procedures for the development of appropriate waste/recycling management plans. The standard states that local manufacturers or importers must formulate a recycling management plan or join an existing management plan.
