UAE RoHS – (also known as UAE Cabinet Decision No. 10 of 2017) came into force on Jan 1, 2018 and restricts the use of the same 10 substances as EU RoHS, lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), and four different phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP). The legislation effectively mirrors EU RoHS with one major difference, the need to register through a Notified Body to ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology) prior to placing on the market. Registration documents required include a DoC along with a Test Report from an ISO17025 certified lab following standard IEC62321. The test report can be either a full product or 3 critical components with accompanying risk assessment documents.
